There is a lot of fallout after Obama's Press Secretary was asked if the Administration considers Ahmadinejad the legitimate leader of Iran, and he answered in the affirmative.
It shows that Obama doesn't want the current electoral turmoil be an excuse for not negotiating with Iran. He should have probably been more careful about this one- I do think this lets down the Iranian opposition. That Ahmadinejad is the "chosen" leader of Iran might have been better. I don't think we'd call Mubarak the "elected leader" of Egypt, even though he routinely "wins" elections. But be sure to check out Larison's excellent counterpoints on this issue.
